This documentary follows a small band of military commandos, members of the Afghan army who fight their country’s enemies during predominantly night missions. A story of war, love, life and death, it is an unprecedented look at these elite fighters, and the hopes and dreams they have rarely spoken of until now.
Sadat was a young child when the Taliban came to power. Her mother was determined to educate Alka and her sister Roya, and broke the law in order to teach her daughters at home. When the Taliban regime was abolished, Sadat and her sister began making films. The sisters established the Roya Film House in 2003. Sadat has made 16 films in a range of countries, including Tajikistan, Italy and Afghanistan. Sadat’s first documentary film, First Number in 2006 was awarded the Afghan Peace Prize. She has also received 12 national and international film festival awards.
