Stanzin Dorjai Gya lives all year round in Leh, Ladakh. He makes frequent trips to France where he lectures and presents his films at festivals.Christiane Mordelet has lived in Ladakh more than six months a year for a decade or so. She is fully integrated into Ladakh life and has been making documentaries for over 20 years. She is also active in an aid-and-trade association with Mongolia and Ladakh.
Way up in Ladakh—at 16,500 feet, somewhere in the Gya-Miru Valley—lives a shepherdess with a flock of 250 sheep and pashmina goats on a huge deserted rock-strewn mountain. Over a year, Tsering shares with us her lonely life among animals in an extreme environment. In spite of these tough conditions, she shows an astonishingly strong spirit. She preserves a traditional ecological way of living. But for how long ?
