Travelling Film South Asia
10-15 outstanding documentaries from the Subcontinent that are screened at the biennial Film South Asia festival are selected to travel all over the Subcontinent and the world as the Travelling Film South Asia. This mobile campaign to promote and popularise Southasian documentaries stops at more than 50 international venues between the regular parent Film South Asia festivals that are held every two years in Kathmandu.
The films selected for TFSA showcase the best of Southasian non-fiction film-making, giving audiences an opportunity to sample an exciting range of topics and themes, presentation styles and techniques.
These festivals are often held by universities, colleges, cultural centers, local theatres, as well as part of larger film festivals and have become instrumental in spreading knowledge about cultures, societies, politics etc. of the Southasian region.
In addition, it is drawing attention of the local as well as the international community to the skills of Southasian filmmakers in making meaningful documentaries and adding to the confidence of filmmakers whose works are selected and screened in such multitude.
The Travelling Film South Asia is an effort on Film South Asia's part, to alert the world to the stories and skills in existence in Southasia through the powerful medium of the documentary.
