Blurring Lines

Directed by Hiba Ghias | |

This is an unusual story about a female wrestler enrolled in the Uttar Pradesh Police who has risen from a place still rooted in age-old patriarchal customs and traditions to carve a place for herself in her immediate social milieu and the society at large. Asha, a non normative and a non gender conformist woman, takes us through the highs and lows of her journey as a police constable and a wrestler.

Shot over a period of three months, the film interweaves Asha’s personal and professional life. The film also acts as a social enquiry into gender identity and female masculinity and hopes to challenge and break gender roles and gender stereotypes.

[director]Ramsha did her graduation in Journalism from Lady Shri Ram College for Women. She then went on to pursue her Masters in Mass Communication from AJK Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia University. This film is a part of her end semester project that she made along with four classmates. [/director]
