Synopsis

In a village in India, a group of Hindu nationalists – a Donald Trump-following godman, an exiled farmer and a rightwing government – are in hot pursuit of a mythological river. They seek to revive the river Saraswati – lost some 4000 years ago and since then found only in religious texts.

Amit Madheshiya is a Cannes prize-winning filmmaker and World Press Photo winning photographer. His work is supported by the Sundance Institute, New York Times, MacArthur Foundation, IDFA Bertha Fund, Bertha Foundation, Goethe-Institut, India Foundation for the Arts, National Foundation of India, Arts Council of England and the University of Heidelberg.
